2018 Blessed Mary Angela Award Honorees
The Blessed Mary Angela Award is awarded each year to those individuals and organizations who most reverently espouse the high ideals and religious commitment of the award’s namesake, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowksa. For the world today, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska remains an example of true piety, a person of conviction; a person who has dared to be prophetic; a religious who has inspired and challenged many to action and contemplation.
At the March 3, 2018 “Special Auction for McGuire Memorial”, this award was presented by Sister Mary Thaddeus Markelewicz to Charles and Georgie Blackburn and to Bob and Chris Pietrandrea who inspire others to follow the charism and mission of Blessed Mary Angela, which states: “To Love is to Give”.
Larry and Cindy Richert
On October 31, 2017, the Larry and Cindy Richert Playground was dedicated at The School at McGuire Memorial that will allow children with physical and intellectual disabilities the opportunity to experience joy in a fully accessible play space. Funded by Bob and Chris Pietrandrea, the decision to name this playground after KDKA Radio’s Larry Richert and his wife, Cindy seemed a perfect fit. Larry has been associated with McGuire Memorial for more than ten years, and the couple embodies what makes the Pittsburgh area and community a warm and caring place for everyone.
McGuire Memorial Foundation Board of Directors
Thank you to McGuire Memorial Board of Directors and McGuire Memorial Foundation Board of Directors for donating over $20,000 for a challenge grant issued on Giving Tuesday. The community accepted and responding to this challenge, helping to raise nearly $45,000 in just one day!
